You probably hear every photographer say this, but truly, couples sessions are some of my favorite. Generally the couple has recently got engaged and they are still riding the high of that beautiful moment. But in this case, I had the honor of capturing a surprise proposal at one of my favorite places, South Haven, MI.

Alex reached out to me and told me the story of how her girlfriend, and now fiancé Rachel, had surprised her and proposed in front of their family and friends, and now she wanted to return the favor and surprise Rachel while on vacation.

They brought their sweet pup Lennon and strolled the beach while I hid behind a sand dune. My heart was racing maybe even more than Alex’s! It was the perfect fall night. Chilly, but the most beautiful sunset peaked out just in time for the big moment.

Once they walked far enough down the beach Alex got down on one knee and asked the love her life to marry her, too! It was such a sweet and intimate moment. Not a sole on the beach but us. Someone pinch me! I can’t believe I get to do this for a living. I love my job and my clients. I wish Rachel and Alex nothing but a lifetime of love and adventures.
