Heather reached out to me for some family photos this summer while they were on vacation in South Haven, MI. I love capturing motherhood at the beach. It’s so fun to watch the kiddos and parents run around together in the sand and water. This is a special time to connect and document families being themselves.

If you book a family session with me I’ll generally focus on capturing raw moments that are unposed and natural. It’s more fun to tell a story through movement rather than ask everyone to stand still and smile. Especially with kids! The likelihood of getting them to sit there and smile may only last for a second and it’s much more stressful to force them to stay still. Most sessions are beautiful chaos, which as a mom myself, I feel right at home with. So I’d rather let them run around, explore, and have fun. You won’t ever need to worry because I will get some amazing photos!

The pressure to have a perfectly posed family photo can be overwhelming during sessions with kids, which is why I specialize in capturing authentic moments that you may not even realize are happening at the time. When you receive your photo gallery it’ll all make sense and fall perfectly into place, telling your family story and freezing memories for years to come.

Motherhood is one of the most complex and beautiful jobs you could ever imagine. I’m honored to have this opportunity to work with some incredible mamas! It makes my heart happy to watch them interact with their babies. Motherhood is hard, but may the joy simply outweigh the struggles.
